Summary of the Macho Milkshake Makers
For our ESLP we decided to make healthy delcious milkshakes. We used strawberries, milk, ice cream, blueberries, and honey. All of the ingredients were healthy (apart from the minor addition of ice cream) and within 150 miles from here. We even got the honey from one of Maya's good friends. What we wanted to do was to make something that the whole class could enjoy that was fun for us to do but to also keep those requirements of being local and healthy in mind. We had went through many different ideas of what to do like brownies. We knew that we wanted to make a dessert and eventually thought of making smoothies and eventually turning into milkshakes. We picked a pretty common and used combo of fruits which was strawberries and blueberries, trying to avoid other fruits like bananas which came from other continents.
When we finally came about finding something to make, we made a simple list of ingredients that would be easy to find and wouldn't be too costly. We went to Sprouts, a supermarket that is similar to Whole Foods. We were able to get everything except for the honey which we decided to get somewhere else. We ended up paying about $20-$30 for everything. However, more making it for our whole class, the budget should be about $40-$60 for all of the ingredients. We got our honey through a friend who's father is a beekeeper. So after collecting all of the ingredients, we set about making the milkshake.
The steps to creating the milkshake can be found in our google slide presentation. Basically you mix everything into a blender and blend it all together.
